Suggested Material List for Quilt Square
*** For 8 by 8 foot Quilt Barn Squares **
After choosing your quilt square size and colors - cut your border pieces to size of your MDO board.
Apply primer (recommend KILZ latex primer) to the back of the MDO board and the border pieces - apply 2-3 coats to each.
Attach the border pieces to the back of the MDO board with screws and then fill the holes with wood filler - sand and prep for painting.
Apply primer to the top and sides of MDO board with border - very important to cover all areas with 2-3 coats of primer for protection against outside elements.
Apply your background color first ( 2 coats recommended of exterior grade paint - satin or semi-gloss )
Graph out your design with a light pencil - note that the pencil lines will show and need extra paint over them.
If design has straight lines, apply your "frog tape" and press side firmly that will have paint applied to it.
Applying the lighter colors first is recommended.
Apply at least two coats of each color - in some cases you may need more.
Remove tape and apply same procedures above for remainder of colors.
